"We have decided to buy pepper powder spray to control some unruly prisoners. These sprays will be very effective and at the same time they will not cause any long-term harm to jail inmates. We have already placed an order and very soon over a dozen sprays will be procured by us. We are sure that it will bring positive change and these sprays will act as deterrents for other prisoners," said a jail official.
Besides, jail authorities have decided to constitute a special anti-brawl squad and its officials would be provided with special kit-like jackets, batons and given special training to control inmates. Over 700 criminals were lodged at Burail jail. This high-security jail had hit the headlines in 2004 when terrorists Jagtar Singh Hawara and Paramjit Singh Bheora had dug a tunnel to escape in 2004.
